Leandro Luppi is a landmark on the Garda Lake: his is the first Michelin star ever won on the Verona side of the lake, and it’s been shining bright for 16 years. In time, there have been a few changes: lake fish is not his exclusive anymore, but Luppi was one of the first chefs to popularize it. Flamboyant and volcanic, his menu is like him: Fake Tomato (marinated sea bass with Garda oil wrapped in a tomato jelly), or Meringue, radish, horseradish, or Trout, hazelnut and licorice, are some of his most creative dishes. In each preparation there’s a special touch that it will be hard to find on a second visit, because the chef doesn’t love to repeat his performances.
