Even if it’s not tacky or uselessly luxurious, Gritti Palace, which has been completely renovated about five years ago, is quite intimidating. The employees, though, welcome you with a genuine smile and are careful to avoid any awkwardness. This is the home of an important restaurant, Club del Doge. For quite some time the chef has been Daniele Turco, who also takes care of the normal selection of Italian classics. Best to go at dinner: Scampi tartare in the shape of a pomegranate cannolo; Matt wheat spaghettoni in a clam extract; the timeless «Hemingway» style risotto with scampi; the Crunchy chicken with garlic mayonnaise.
