Davide Canina

I Parcellari

Via Umberto I 46 - Govone (Cuneo)

Davide Canina is a Piedmontese engineer who has been following his passion for wine since 2008. He became a certified sommelier, embarking on a professional journey in Michelin-starred restaurants, refining his skills both as a dining room ceremonialist and as a wine list curator. He first worked alongside Chef Andrea Ribaldone at I Due Buoi and Osteria Arborina, before moving to Cioccaro di Penango, where he joined Enrico Bartolini at Locanda del Sant’Uffizio.

It was precisely his experience at Locanda in 2019, combined with his vision for the Asti region, that led him to change course. He decided to produce his own wine, fulfilling a lifelong dream: enhancing the vineyards of his native Piedmont. His turning point came with Daniele Pasciuta, who owned parcels of Grignolino and Barbera in Bricco Pizzo, Cioccaro di Penango. This partnership allowed Canina to embark on his journey as a vigneron.

Another pivotal encounter was with Agostino Malvicino, director of the Produttori di Govone winery. Together, they worked on elevating the 300 hectares of member-owned vineyards by implementing a parcel-based selection of the finest plots. Thanks to this synergy and the technical guidance he received, Canina was able to create I Parcellari.

Of course, true to the cliché that “behind every great man, there’s a great woman”, Canina’s partner in both life and business is Monica Pedrotto, whom he calls the "co-editor" of I Parcellari. Their debut wines included Chardonnay, Barbera, Grignolino, Nebbiolo, and Albarossa, and today, I Parcellari boasts ten labels, with a strong focus on Barbera.
