Femke van den Heuvel, born October 3th 1967 at Uitgeest (The Netherlands), is owner of a vegetarian restaurant VlamIndePan (Flash in the Pan) at Haarlem (the Netherlands) since 2001. During her student years science of communication, international and intercultural communication) Femke had a part time job in the hospitality industry. After her studies she had many jobs in different countries. Eventually she regained her old passion, which is cooking. As Femke was very familiar with the vegetarian kitchen, she started a catering company (VlamIndePan) in 2001. Since 2006 VlamIndePan is also a restaurant that is fully Skall-certified, which means all used products are of organic and biodynamic origin. Beside the cooking Femke has a great interest in the connection of food and health , and studied ayurvedic, macrobiotic and raw food filosophies. As vegetarian cooking and awareness of health rose in popularity she started to give workshops for people that wanted to learn more about vegetarian cooking in a professional way. As the demand for workshops grew, she started a vegetarian cookery school in 2013. At this moment Femke is educating more than 50 students. Femke also educate professional chefs to improve their skills and knowledge about vegetarian/vegan cooking.
