From Southern Italy to the Silicon Valley. Back in 2013 Maico Campilongo and Kristjan D'Angelo opened their pizzeria in Palo Alto, and called it Terùn. It soon became a popular place, with guests including Mark ZuckerbergJeff BezosTim Cook... It is no coincidence: they serve high quality food. This is thanks to its two creators; the former takes care of the management, the latter enjoys getting his hands dirty with flour.

Maico has always followed Steve Jobs’s motto, Stay hungry stay foolish. Born in 1973 in Maratea, Basilicata, a childhood spent in Calabria («My family made wine, oil, flour...». And bread), he then became: waiter, bar tender, student (successfully in high school, less so at university), a paratrooper in the Folgore, a town counsellor, a bank administrator, a paragliding pilot, a night club singer, a tourist guide, a travel agent, a sales rep... On the 24th October 2005 he moved to the United States, following the footsteps of his brother Franco who had already crossed the ocean in 2002 and had become the general manager of an Italian restaurant in Palo Alto.

In 2012 Maico happened to be not too far from Los Angeles, in the local headquarters of the Associazione Verace Pizza Napoletana for a 3-day full immersion thanks to which he got the Avpncertification: he had decided he’d open Terún with his brother, two investors and another partner who was attending the course with him...

This was Kristjan D'Angelo, born in 1973 in Ginosa Marina (Taranto): when he decided to move to the US in 2003, in his suitcase on top of his socks he had also put a pizza shovel. His great childhood passion: in the evening, he used to work in the pizzeria of a Neapolitan friend and, at home, he’d make pizzas for his friend, monopolising the electric oven in the kitchen, and the wood oven in the garden. Now that peel is nicely displayed at Terùn.
