An exceptional chef, Matteo Baronetto of Del Cambio in Torino, ex sous chef at Carlo Cracco’s, is today’s protagonist at "Contemporary Italian Chefs", the series of dinner events on Mondays and Tuesdays that Identità Expo dedicates to the best talents in national cuisine.
He was born in 1977 but his parents, from Giaveno, were not in the business as they worked for Fiat. After quitting his accounting studies he went to catering school in Pinerolo, which led him to the professional debut at Betulla in San Bernardino. After that came the leap to Erbusco, with Marchesi, with whom Cracco was already working. When the latter decided to move to Clivie in Piobesi d’Alba, Baronetto followed him. He did the same in 2001, bound to Milan, at restaurant Cracco-Peck. In April 2014 he went solo and returned to Piedmont, to Del Cambio in Torino, where he had been an intern years before.
Best sous chef according to the 2009 Identità Golose guide.
Fine dining at Expo 2015 goes under the brand of Identità Golose thanks to Identità Expo, the event – created in collaboration with S. Pellegrino – which for six months will summon great Italian and international chefs to Milan for a unique, extremely elegant temporary restaurant. There will also be lessons, cooking shows, meetings, demonstrations... All this animating a rich programme of events (soon online), the result of the organisational effort and prestige of Identità Golose.
