Today, in Vico Equense, in the Penisola Sorrentina, starts the tenth edition of Festa a Vico, a four-day festival with an incredible allure, born thanks to the bright idea of Gennaro Esposito, chef at La Torre del Saracino, who’s been capable of putting together many great chefs from all over Italy, established and emerging ones, all happily together in a magic environment, between the gulf of Naples’ and the village of Marina Equa.
«Some may say that, seeing the state of the economy, there’s little to celebrate», Esposito said, «but pessimism and renouncing to a smile certainly won’t solve a problem. In a way, you need to re-consider the usual way of working in the restaurant. We do so starting from this Feast, re-living this event through daily life, thanks to the meeting of emerging chefs and shops, bars, small restaurants which characterise our everyday».

Good idea. And if this year’s main theme is “Tu vuò fa l'Americano... ma si made in Italy!”, the celebration of this tenth anniversary will be as choral as ever: as well as the chefs, there will be many movable restaurants as protagonists. It will be a sort of tribute to street food and to the idea of working hard. The
Festa will also see the participation of shops, bars and workshops that are the life of Marina di Seiano.
Let’s see the main events of the Festival.
On Sunday 2nd Jun, National holiday, there will be the Repubblica del Cibo (Republic of food): emerging chefs will animate Vico’s centre, inside the shops in the three main streets. You will be able to taste food at the florist’s, at the newsagent’s or in clothes shops. All this to celebrate "Vico Equense’s Made in Italy". You can buy coupons on location.
On Monday 3rd June, instead, there will be the Notte Bianca della Gastronomia with chefs and emerging chefs (here is the complete list with all the protagonists) who will take part in the Festa and will share the space of the movable restaurants which starting from Torre del Saracino will be placed on the boulevard of Marina di Seiano until Spiaggia delle Axidie. Earnings will be given to charities that support children. There will also be a concert by Nicola Piovani who participates in Festa a Vico’s charity event.

On Tuesday 4th June the real Festa a Vico will start, with the
Serata dei Big (the Stars’ night) and the participation of 1
00 Starred Chefs at the
Bikini. This year will also be the first time for "Pizza delle Stelle", with the pizza oven and three pizza chefs who will underline the link between the art of pizza making and high cuisine.
On Wednesday 5th June, there will be another event which is now a tradition, the "Pizza centimetro per centimetro", focusing on rolling techniques. It will take place in the Università della Pizza in Vico Equense.
